Jil Sander Navy Has Arrived!

Jil Sander Navy was introduced only last spring as an idea by the brand’s creative director Raf Simons. Now a year later and with his time at the label, Simons’ designs have become coveted pieces for anyone looking for the perfect minimalist addition to their wardrobe. Known for the cut and use of fabrics, anyone familiar with the Jil Sander brand knows that their collections rarely have an expiration date when speaking of style and quality. Simons realized this and decided he would start the capsule collection, Jil Sander Navy.

The namesake collection is still carried at the store in women’s, allowing for our customer to build on the Sander “Icon” pieces. With the addition of Navy there is the option to find the same great fit at a more accessible price point. Navy maintains the Jil Sander vibe of simplicity and ease, but with a slightly more youthful edge. Skirts graze the mid-thigh versus the knee; available with details like a sash at the waist or a cool asymmetrical black mini. There is also a graphic tee that is playful and sexy; great for a night out or as a layering piece; the grey t-shirt has a black sheer panel on one side and an intricate design in neon orange and pink on the other.

Maintaining the feeling of casual luxe, Jil Sander Navy can be paired with jeans or more tailored jacket and pants, making it the lighthearted counterpart to the namesake’s aesthetic. If you have a vacation planned or simply want to get some of your spring shopping started, Jil Sander Navy will provide you with some terrific transitional pieces.

Quick report from New York

The second major snowstorm in as many weeks here in New York and the cause of hundreds of cancelled flights and major angst on everyone's part was not that big a deal...I promise.   I woke up this morning and looked out the window to see...wait for it...sunshine (!)  The blizzard sort of side-stepped the city.    So off I went to see  the fall pre-colections of Jil Sander, Jason Wu and The Row.   All three looked great...fabulous outerwear at Jil, beautiful lace-trimmed jackets, coat and tees at Jason and beautiful tees, leathers and sportswear at The Row.   More and more these so-called "pre" collections actually comprise 60% - 70% of many collections' deliveries and are therefore greatly anticipated by both staff and customers.

More soon...CC

Red Wing Boots

Just in time for winter, our Red Wing boots are here.  We have two colors in their classic work boot moccasin style: the "Oro-ginal" and the briar oil slick.  Hailing from Red Wing, Minnesota since 1905, Red Wing boots are classic Americana work wear and have come full circle in terms of their place in the fashion world with their Heritage collection. Initially the Japanese (many Japanese fashion-mavens love all things Americana) went crazy for their boots which has since created a buzz over here. Wear these with your Levi's Vintage 1947 501 jeans and a plaid over-shirt from John Woolrich and Bros. They take a little breaking in but once they have they are great.

Far out Phantasmagoria!

Groovy man! Phantasmagoria hand-crafted leather goods are back! As one of Lawry's semi-retired hobbies (a man can only play so much golf you know), and at the urging of Joe, Lawry is back where he began by making handmade belts.  (We began as a leather goods store in Boulder in 1967 making belts, sandals, watch bands, handbags and more). Currently there are two men's styles, the Joe and the Rick and three in women's, the Cathy, the Amy and the Lisa. The leather is fantastic and is old-school in its thickness and durability - don't worry it softens and shapes to your waist as you wear it. If you ask nicely, he might even do a special order for you.  What's also a trip is that on the inside there is our original "Phantasmagoria Leather Craftsmen Boulder Colorado" stamp. You won't find these anywhere else in the world. Dig it man. The belts sell for $125 - $150.

 The Joe and Rick.

Stamp from our first store 13th and College, Boulder, Colorado.
